A shipping container house is a building that is usually built for human shelter.[1] A shipping container house is intended for residential, office, commercial or other similar use.[2]
Residential buildings can be divided into different types. Single-family shipping container houses are residential buildings in which the spaces belonging to different dwellings do not overlap. Single-family shipping container houses can be further classified into detached single-family shipping container houses, i.e. detached shipping container houses, and connected single-family shipping container houses, which include semi-detached shipping container houses, terraced shipping container houses and chain shipping container houses. Apartment buildings, on the other hand, are buildings in which the dwellings are built on top of each other on several floors. Apartment buildings can be classified into small apartment buildings, where the entrance to the top apartment is on the second floor above ground at most, and high-rise apartment buildings.[3]
Historically, wood, brick and stone have been used as building materials for shipping container houses. Primitive dwellings were rectangular or round huts. An important invention in the history of shipping container houses was the vertical wall, which developed from a shelter that ran inside the hut and made the dwelling airtight.
