Should my GMC truck get premium pads, or are normal ones enough?
#1
My GMC Canyon is four years old, and last week the dealer told me the front pads are low and I should plan to change them soon. He gave me two prices, one for normal pads and one for premium pads that cost almost double. When I asked what the difference was, he just said premium ones are better for a truck. That did not help me. I live near Al Wasl, and I drive about thirty minutes each way to work in slow traffic. At weekends I sometimes carry tools and a light trailer, so the truck works harder than a normal car. A friend says premium pads last longer and make less dust. Another friend says normal pads are fine for daily use and I would only waste money. I looked online for a Premium brake pad change for GMC trucks near Al Wasl, but every page said best quality and best price, so I still do not know what the real difference is. Do premium pads really last longer in the heat here? Do they stop shorter when the truck is loaded? Is the dust really less on the wheels? Do I need to change the discs at the same time, or can I keep them if they are still good? How long does the job take, and can I wait at the shop? What should it cost on a truck like this? If you tried both kinds, please tell me what you picked, what you paid, and how long they lasted. Easy answers help me most.
